VOV.VN - The Vietnam men’s national football team has moved up three places to 111th in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings.
The rise came after two wins against Nepal, 3-1 and 1-0, in the first and second legs of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers held in Ho Chi Minh City.
The victories earned Vietnam an additional 13.7 points, lifting the team from 114th to 111th in the world standings and paving the way for a potential return to the top 100 in the near future.
In November, Vietnam will play an away match against Laos in the final qualifying round of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. A win would further improve their ranking and keep alive hopes of reaching the tournament finals.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand remained the highest-ranked team at 96th in the world, followed by Vietnam and Malaysia at 118th.
Across Asia, the top three teams are Japan (19th), Iran (21st), and the Republic of Korea (22nd). Globally, Spain continued to lead the table, with Argentina, France, UK, and Portugal rounding out the top five.
