VOV.VN - The Quang Binh Discovery Marathon 2025 was held at the world natural heritage site of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang Binh on March 9, drawing the participation of nearly 1,300 domestic and foreign athletes.
The marathon, a meaningful activity, celebrates the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day.
This represented the fifth time that the Quang Binh Discovery Marathon has been organised at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, with the ultimate aim of kickstarting the province’s tourism season this year.
The athletes competed in a variety of distances, including six km, 10km, 25km, and 42 km. They passed through several of the most famous scenic landscapes in the province, such as the Son river, Mooc Spring, and primary forest.
In the men’s and women's 42km events, Riley Liam and Nguyen Thi Tra Giang won the first prizes, respectively. Nguyen Hai Dang and Ngo Ngoc Diep were the winners of the men’s and women’s 25 km runs. Hoang Tan Viet and Katie Carter won the men’s and women’s 10km races, while Tran Minh Quy and Pham Thi Ly finished first in the men's and women's six km distance.
The marathon is expected to promote the movement of sports training, as well as the province’s advantages of tourism in general and biodiversity values, natural landscapes, and tourism products in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in particular.
