Local young players will have the opportunity to gain experience from playing against strong international opponents.

Vietnam will friendlies against the hosts the RoK, Ukraine, and Morocco. The U18 side’s participation is taking place as part of a co-operation programme between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Korean Football Association (KFA). Coach Park Hang Seo is currently the ambassador of the tournament.

October will also see the Vietnamese national team have a friendly match against the hosts the RoK. This is the first time the KFA has sent an invitation to the VFF to organise an international friendly match between the two national teams.

Most recently, the senior teams of both Vietnam and the RoK met in 2004. The two teams have played each other six times in history, with the Vietnamese team famously defeating the RoK back in the 2004 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The upcoming friendly match between Vietnam and the RoK in October aims to help the international footballers prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The team is scheduled to compete in World Cup qualifiers from mid-November to June, 2024.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group F alongside the Philippines, Iraq, and the winner of the upcoming play-off match between Indonesia and Brunei. Vietnam’s opening match against the Philippines is set to take place on November 16.
