VOV.VN - Vietnam’s lion and dragon dance team claimed two golds and one silver at the 2025 Asian Lion & Dragon Dance Championship recently concluded in Indonesia.
The team secured golds in the high pole lion dance and speed lion dance events, while earning a silver in the speed dragon dance category.
The 7th edition of the championship brought together more than 300 athletes from Malaysia, Singapore, Macau (China), Hong Kong (China), the Philippines, Vietnam, and host Indonesia.
Established in 2023, the Vietnam Lion and Dragon Dance Federation has been promoting training programs and national competitions to develop the sport nationwide. According to the general regulations issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Sports Administration, lion and dragon dance will remain an official event at the 10th National Sports Games in 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the 9th National Sports Games in 2022, the discipline featured seven events and attracted 14 participating teams.
