The seventh Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) Championship will be played at Hoiana Shores Golf Club in Quang Nam Province from March 6-9, 2025.

It will be the first time Vietnam has hosted the championship, developed by the R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation to unearth emerging talent and provide a pathway for Asia’s elite female amateurs onto the international stage.

This tournament helped to launch the careers of three Major champions - Yuka Saso, Patty Tavatanakit and Ayaka Furue - and former world No 1 Atthaya ‘Jeeno’ Thitikul.

The golf course is set against a spectacular coastline in breathtaking unspoiled natural terrain, offering majestic views of the Eastern Sea and Cham Islands, and is renowned for its testing back nine sea breeze and bunkers.

“The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific championship provides leading women’s amateur golfers with a world-class platform to compete at some of the most renowned golf courses in the region," said Martin Slumbers, CEO of The R&A.

“Golf in Vietnam has grown significantly in recent years and we are looking forward to taking the championship there for the first time. Hoiana Shores Golf Club promises to be a fantastic venue and an excellent test of golf for the players.

“I am looking forward to seeing who emerges from the field to win the championship and earn the three major championship exemptions on offer.”

Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, Taimur Hassan Amin, said: “We’re delighted that the seventh edition of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship is to be held in Vietnam for the first time, at the spectacular Hoiana Shores Golf Club.

“Vietnam is one of the fastest growing golfing markets in the world and the staging of the WAAP there will certainly help to accelerate the game’s growth in the country."

Amin thanked partners and said with the region’s finest women golfers showcasing their talent at this stunning venue, it would promise to be a memorable week.

Vu Nguyen, VGA Vice President and General Secretary, added, “The VGA is delighted that the WAAP will be hosted in Vietnam. The championship is young but has a grand reputation for producing Major champions.”

The winner at Hoiana Shores will be invited to compete in the AIG Women’s Open, Amundi Evian Championship and Chevron Championship.

She will also receive invitations to the Hana Financial Group Championship, ISPS Handa Australian Open, 122nd Women's Amateur Championship and, by tradition, Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Wu Chun-wei of Chinese Taipei won the sixth edition held at Siam Country Club in Thailand in February.
