At 7 a.m. on October 7, severe flooding occurred along rivers and streams in northern Thai Nguyen province, with water levels rising above alert level 3.
The prolonged rainfall has led to widespread flooding on numerous streets in central urban areas, with water depths commonly ranging from 0.3 to 0.5 meters. In some locations, flooding is more severe, with water levels exceeding 0.5 meters, causing significant disruption.
Major roads in the wards and communes of Gia Sang, Tich Luong, Quyet Thang and Linh Son, among others, also experience severe flooding, further disrupting local transportation and daily activities.
Over the past 24 hours, Thai Nguyen has recorded heavy rainfall of approximately 100mm in many localities.
Do Thi Hoa, a resident of Phan Dinh Phung Ward, shares that the overnight rainfall from October 6 to the morning of October 7 has led to widespread flooding in low-lying areas across the city centre, with most parts of Phan Dinh Phung Ward submerged under water.
Authorities have blocked the Bo Dau flooding hotspot on National Highway 3, which connects Thai Nguyen to Bac Kan Ward and Cho Moi, due to dangerous water levels and safety concerns.
In Thanh Hoa province, prolonged rainfall has triggered multiple landslides, including a severe one on National Highway 217 through Tong village, which has completely cut off traffic.
Thousands of cubic meters of soil, rocks, and trees have slid down the hillsides, blocking the road, while local authorities and relevant forces are coordinating with relevant units to install warning signs and urgently clear the debris to restore traffic as quickly as possible.
