VOV.VN - Tran Anh Tu unexpectedly resigned from his position as Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the federation confirmed on March 12.
According to VFF, Tu had submitted his resignation letter to the Standing Committee of the Executive Board, requesting to step down from all his current roles. The federation has received the letter and will present it for discussion at the next Executive Board meeting.
Tran Anh Tu, widely known as "Bau Tu," has been deeply involved in Vietnamese football for many years. In December 2017, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) and was re-elected twice in 2020 and 2023. At the 9th VFF Congress in late 2022, he was the sole candidate for the position of Vice President in charge of professional affairs.
During his tenure, Tu made significant contributions to the development of Vietnamese futsal, playing a key role in helping the national futsal team qualify for two FIFA Futsal World Cups.
He also contributed to the growth of women's football in Vietnam through sponsorships for several clubs and the National Championship.
