VOV.VN - Ten Vietnamese swimmers have left for Fukuoka, Japan, to compete at the World Aquatics Championships 2023, according to the Vietnam Sports Administration.
However, Vietnam’s No. 1 swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang could not participate in the tournament as he is training in Hungary in preparation for the 19th Asian games (ASIAD 19) to be held in Hangzhou (China) this September.
All the athletes have met the criteria to qualify for the world championships in Japan according to the regulations of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).
The tournament is considered a big test for young talented swimmers such as Nguyen Quang Thuan, Mai Tran Tuan Anh, Ho Nguyen Duy Khoa, Do Ngoc Vinh, Luong Jeremie Loic Nino, along with familiar names like Pham Thanh Bao, Tran Hung Nguyen, Hoang Quy Phuoc, and Kim Son.
The World Aquatics Championships, the 20th edition of its kind, is taking place in Fukuoka, Japan, from July 14 to 30.
A total of 75 medal events will be held across six disciplines. The programme returns to the traditional schedule with artistic swimming, diving, open water swimming and water polo all competing in the first week, while swimming and high diving get underway the following week.
