Six golfers from Vietnam set for World Amateur Team Championships 2025
VOV.VN - Six Vietnamese golfers will compete at the prestigious World Amateur Team Championships (WATC) 2025 at Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore this October.
The biennial tournament features two competitions: the Espirito Santo Trophy for women, from October 1 to 4, and the Eisenhower Trophy for men, from October 8 to 11.
The Eisenhower Trophy will feature 36 national teams, selected based on the combined World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) of each country’s top male players. Vietnam’s men’s team, comprising Nguyen Anh Minh, Ho Anh Huy and Nguyen Duc Son, will aim for strong results in the competition.
Nguyen Anh Minh currently holds the highest world amateur men’s ranking among Vietnamese players, positioned 40th. In 2024, Anh Minh, Anh Huy and Khanh Hung led the national team to victory at the Nomura Cup Asia-Pacific Amateur Team Championship.
The Espirito Santo Trophy will bring together 36 women’s teams. Vietnam’s women’s team will include Le Chuc An, Anna Le and Arena Tran.
First held in 1958 for men and 1964 for women, the WATC is recognised as the world’s premier amateur team golf event. Each team fields two or three players competing in 18‑hole stroke play over four rounds. In each round, the two lowest individual scores are counted toward the team total, with the final score after 72 holes determining the championship rankings.
