VOV.VN - More than 100 poor workers, filled with excitement and emotion, boarded a special train free of charge at Di An Railway Station in southern Binh Duong province on January 22 to take them to their hometowns for family reunion during the coming Lunar New Year 2025 holiday (Tet).
Poor workers converge on Di An Railway Station very early in the morning to get on the special train, the first of its kind arranged by the trade union to help those in difficult circumstances to enjoy a happy Tet at home.
Many cannot hold back their deep emotion as they have not celebrated Tet with their families for as long as five years.
“My grandchild and I have been counting down the days to return to our hometown, to visit my elderly parents, and to reunite with the family. This joy is indescribable,” says Luong Thi Van, 45, a worker at Thong Dung Footwear Company, who has not returned to her hometown in half a decade.
In addition to receiving complimentary round-trip train tickets, the workers are also given Tet gifts and heartfelt wishes from the leaders of Binh Duong province and the Provincial Trade Union.
These thoughtful gestures add to the workers’ joy and excitement of returning home for the Lunar New Year holiday.
The gifts symbolize gratitude and care, reinforcing a sense of solidarity and community among the workers.
After receiving the gifts, the workers board the train to prepare for their journey home.
On the train, laughter and cheerful conversations erase the fatigue of daily life, as they anticipate joyful Tet celebrations with their family members.
This Tet, workers facing difficult circumstances have been offered more than 3,000 train tickets and 450 airplane tickets to get home. Local businesses have also sponsored tens of thousands of bus tickets, helping workers return home for the holiday.
This is one of the special trains arranged by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to ensure that poor workers can return home on time for joyful Tet celebrations with their families this year.
