VOV.VN - A fashion show presenting iconic traditional costumes of both Japanese and Vietnamese women, the Kimono and the Ao Dai, got underway on October 12 at the Vietnamese Women's Museum in Hanoi.
The fashion show opens with two outfits featuring the national flags of Vietnam and Japan by Vietnamese designer Lan Vy.
Designer Lan Vy brings a collection of 10 Ao Dai inspired by the lotus flower and Vietnamese legends to the event.
The cultural function takes place as a part of activities held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan which were originally formed in 1973.
Designer Junko Sophia Kakizaki of Japan presents 10 Kimonos at the event.
The fashion show is expected to help audiences gain a greater understanding of about the similarities in traditional costumes of both countries.
