VOV.VN - Nineteen Vietnamese and 11 international players are set to compete in an international chess championship in central Da Nang city from December 22 to 28.
Grandmaster Lai Ly Huynh, who won the men’s gold medal at the 2025 World Xiangqi Championship in Shanghai, China, on September 27, marking a historic first for Vietnamese xiangqi (Chinese chess), will take part in the tournament.
Other participants will come from China, Hong Kong (China), Singapore, Chinese Taipei, and Malaysia. The championship will follow standard chess rules. Each player will have 60 minutes to complete a game, with 30 seconds added per move to their total time.
The winner will receive a prize of US$15,000, while the second and third-place finishers will earn US$7,000 and US$4,000, respectively.
