Some 800 coaches and participants from 48 domestic and international teams will join in the race, according to the organizing board.

The race aims to promote both solidarity and sportsmanship, and promote the image of Hanoi’s land and people, thereby boosting the city’s culture and tourism development.

The competition is part of activities within the framework of a cooperation document agreement on cultural and sport development in the city signed between the Hanoi People’s Committee and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.

The first dragon boat race was organised on West Lake in 2018. The event gathered together a total of 27 teams from seven districts around the capital. Various art troupes also performed at the competition.
