VOV.VN - British newspaper The Guardian has named 60 of the best young talents in world football, with forward Tran Gia Bao, a rising star of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) FC, making the list.
Gia Bao made headlines as the youngest player to appear and score in Vietnam’s top-tier league (V.League) at just 16 years old.
Even before his professional debut, the talented forward, who is capable of playing both as a central striker and in a deeper attacking role, had already drawn attention for both his skills and striking appearance, according to the UK news outlet.
Often compared by supporters to Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal, Gia Bao has continued to shine in the V.League. In September, he drew national acclaim after netting a goal described as “European class” by former Vietnamese international Nguyen Quang Hai. The Guardian expressed hope that Gia Bao could become the first Vietnamese footballer to make a significant impact in European football.
Born in 2008, Tran Gia Bao made history during the 2024/2025 V.League season by scoring in a match between HAGL FC and Quang Nam FC, becoming the youngest goal scorer in the tournament.
He is the third Vietnamese player to be included in The Guardian’s annual list of top young global talents, following Phan Thanh Hau in 2014 and Le Dinh Long Vu in 2023.
