VOV.VN - More than 100 cats from countries including the Philippines, China, Thailand, and Taiwan gathered in Ho Chi Minh City for the WCF International Jubilee Cat Show 2025 on November 1-2, competing in categories of beauty and grace.
The competition, named the WCF (World Cat Federation) International Jubilee Cat Show 2025, aims to honor local and international cat owners and professional cat breeders as well as promoting animal welfare.
Beyond its professional significance, the event also serves as an opportunity for Vietnam to meet with other countries in the region, while donating part of its proceeds to pet rescue organizations such as Vườn Mèo Lang Thang (Cat Garden Shelter) and Sân Nhà Nhiều Chó (Backyard Squad).
This year, the show is expanded in scale, attracting the participation of many rare cat breeds from around the world, including the British Shorthair, Bengal, Ragdoll, Maine Coon, American Shorthair, Cornish Rex, Selkirk Rex, and Siberian.
The photo shows Naomi, a traditional Thai Siamese cat, known for its distinctive dark birthmark on its face and its uniquely "oddly charming" expression, which delights many people. Thanks to his striking appearance and a series of humorous photos that once went viral on social media, Naomi is now valued at over VND 400 million (approximately US$16,000).
Paradise, Naomi’s wife, is an elegant and slender Oriental cat. She is among the most notable contestants of this year’s show, having previously won several titles at WCF international competitions, including “Best Oriental Cat” and “Best Medium-Sized Cat.”
This year, the competition introduces a category for dwarf cats for the first time. According to the organizers, the new category aims to provide education and raise awareness, encouraging responsible breeding practices to protect the well-being of the species.
A booth of Tran Dang Quang from Hanoi showcases a group of Golden kittens. He revealed that his pet is the only golden cat in Vietnam to have ever won the Best General title in the WCF system. Quang stressed that offspring of the champion are sold for between VND10 million and VND40 million (approximately US$400–US$1,600).
