VOV.VN - VTV Binh Dien Long An will represent Vietnam at the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship, scheduled to take place in Brazil this December.
According to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), São Paulo will host the global tournament from December 8 to 14.
Among the strong contenders in this year’s competition are Osasco (Brazil), Imoco Conegliano (Italy), Lima (Peru), Zhetysu VC (Kazakhstan), Zamalek (Egypt), and VTV Binh Dien Long An (Vietnam).
The Vietnamese club earned its berth after clinching the silver medal at the inaugural Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Champions League held in the Philippines on April 27, where they lost 3-1 to Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC in the final. During the April tournament, VTV Binh Dien Long An fielded Natalia Lijewska of Poland as their only foreign player.
More recently, the club claimed the national women’s volleyball championship title, successfully defending its No. 1 ranking in Vietnam for the second consecutive year.
Star spiker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, who is currently playing for Japan’s Gunma Green Wings, will not join VTV Binh Dien Long An for the upcoming world event in Brazil.
