Cập nhật: 6 ngày trước
VOV.VN - Water levels of the Red River have risen over the past two days, forcing residents of Phuc Tan and Chuong Duong wards in Tay Ho district of Hanoi to travel around by boat.
Torrential rain from typhoon Yagi across the northern region couple with the release of water from hydropower reservoirs further upstream have caused water levels of the Red River to rise rapidly, flooding residential areas along the riverbanks in the capital.
Over the past two days, residents on Hong Ha, Tan Ap, and Bao Linh streets have been forced to make use of boats to travel.
The water level has risen above someone’s waist.
Each street offers a dozen boats to support local resident’s travel needs.
Each trip costs VND20,000 per person.
The floodwaters begin to recede on September 12, albeit very slowly.
A number of houses are left submerged in floodwaters.
Water supply faces long interruptions, whilst power cuts make life increasingly hard for local residents.
Many businesses are required to move goods to safe places to minimize their losses.
Children and the elderly face the most severe challenges as they need assistance from family members whenever they need to go outside.
