VOV.VN - Vietnamese martial artists on December 2 claimed their second gold medal on the third competition day of the biennial World Taekwondo Poomsae (performance) Championships 2024 that is getting underway in Hong Kong (China).
They triumphed in the U50 Female Team category after defeating the Republic of Korea in the final in a highly competitive performance.
The competition, with 32 teams participating, saw the Vietnamese team come out on top, earning them a well-deserved gold medal. Brazil and Germany shared third position.
This marked the second gold medal won by the Vietnamese team at the global tournament, following their first gold medal in the over-17 freestyle mixed category on the first competition day on November 30. It had also been the first gold for Vietnam at the championship since 2016.
Nguyen Thi Le Kim took home a silver medal in the women’s individuals U40 event.
This championship in Hong Kong has drawn over 1,700 athletes from 77 countries and territories globally. Vietnam has sent 40 athletes to the competition, and it has now surpassed expectations with 2 golds and 1 silver. There are more opportunities for medals in the remaining days of the competition.
