VOV.VN - As many as 18 representatives from Vietnamese travel agencies will take part in a familiarisation trip (Famtrip) to Kanchanaburi in Thailand on July 3 to explore its various tourist attractions and services.

Vietnamese tour operators will be given the chance to meet leaders of the Tourism Authority of Thailand to learn about their experience and seek measures to develop tourism services in Vietnam.

Located on the banks of the romantic Kwai River, Kanchanaburi is about 130km from the capital Bangkok and is a peaceful mountainous province in the western region of Thailand.

This place is famous for its wild natural beauty, rich historical sites, and unique culture. The locality is expected to develop into a new and attractive destination for Vietnamese tourists.

During their five-day stay, the Vietnamese delegation will spend two days on discovering Kanchanaburi province.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand reported that in the first two months of the year, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Thailand reached more than 130,400, a drop of 7% compared to the first two months of 2023.

The number of visitors is expected to increase during the summer.

The organisation views Vietnam as an important short-haul foreign tourism market for Thailand. In 2023, Vietnam was among the top 10 markets bringing visitors to the neighbouring country, with over one million visits, equivalent to 96% of the 2019 figure.
