Vietnam wins one gold medal at 2024 IFMA Youth World Championships

VOV.VN - Local martial artists brought home one gold, four silver, and nine bronze medals to place the 11th position in the overall medal table at the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) Youth World Championships which concluded on September 18 in Thailand.

Do Phuong Nguyen and Nguyen Thu Phuong claimed the only one gold medal in the mai muay event.

Elsewhere, some of the outstanding athletes to bag other medals for Vietnam were Bui Khanh Nguyen in the boy’s 50kg of age group 12-13, Banh The Minh in the boy’s 42kg of age group 12-13, and Nguyen Kha Han in the girl’s 42kg of age group 10-11.

The 2024 IFMA Youth World Championships began in Bangkok, Thailand on September 11 and witnessed the participation of 1,600 athletes from 146 teams worldwide.

Vietnam sent a total of 29 martial artists to the tournament and competed in different events of four age groups of 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, and 16-17.

The Philippines, Thailand, and Ukraine were among the Top 3 finishers at the tournament, with the Vietnamese team being placed in 11th position in the overall medal table.
