The Vietnamese women's national futsal team made it the list of nominees due to their outstanding performances in 2024.

The local female players managed to win the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championships which concluded on November 21 in the Philippines after beating Thailand 2-1 in the final match.

This comes after they won the championship title in September during an international friendly tournament in Thailand. The team also finished in second position at the International Women's Futsal Tournament Lanzhou 2024, which concluded on July 15 in China.

The women's futsal squad, under the leadership of Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, officially resumed training in preparation ahead of qualifiers for the 2025 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Futsal Asian Cup, which is scheduled to take place in mid-January.

In the world’s best women national team category, the other nominees include Brazil, Iran, Italy, Uzbekistan, and Finland.

Futsalplanet also unveiled a list of 10 nominees for the title of the world’s best coach of a women’s national futsal team, including coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang of Vietnam.
