VOV.VN - A special fashion show introducing the traditional costumes of Vietnam (Áo dài - long dress) and of the Republic of Korea (Hanbok) took place at Long Dinh Welcome Pavilion by the Huong (Perfume) River in Vietnam’s former imperial city of Hue on June 26 evening.
The special show is part of the 2024 Hue Community Áo dài Week from June 24 - 30 aimed at preserving and promoting the beauty of the traditional costume of Vietnam.
The long dress is a typical product of Vietnam, one of the important elements that make up the national soul.
The costume is known as a symbol of Vietnamese people for both women and men in all times. It is always associated with the good qualities (gentle, loyal, and hardworking) of Vietnamese women and the elegant and upright personality of Vietnamese men.
A young girl of Hue shows off her charm in an Áo dài outfit on the stage.
The collection of 54 Áo dài are designed with various colours and patterns representing the 54 ethnic groups of people living across Vietnam.

2024 Hue Community Áo dài Week is an important event that affirms the position of the long dress in life. It also aims to build Hue into Vietnam’s Áo dài capital, to attract tourists and promote the image of Hue, the former imperial city with unique traditional cultural values.
Meanwhile, the oldest evidence of early Hanbok can still be seen on the frescoes from the Kyuki-do period, about 300 BC. However, the most common image of the costume that everyone sees today was created and fixed during the reign of the Joseon Dynasty, over 1600 years ago.
The Korean costume comprises elegant curves, expressing longevity, wealth, fertility, and power through different colours and patterns.
Young girls and boys show off their charm, grace and elegance in Vietnamese and Korean costumes.
The show is expected to help the audience understand more about the traditional costumes of both Vietnam and the Republic of Korea that have many cultural and historical similarities.
