VOV.VN - Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ first commercial flight departed Noi Bai International Airport on the morning of November 1, carrying 220 passengers to Phu Quoc island in southern Kien Giang province on an Airbus A321, marking the launch of Vietnam’s first resort airline.

Subsequent flights, at 8:50 a.m. from Ho Chi Minh City and 8:35 a.m. from Da Nang, also took off later, all bound for Phu Quoc.

The Da Nang-Phu Quoc service was a special inaugural flight for the opening and is expected to enter regular operation from March 2026. From now until the end of 2025, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will officially operate three domestic routes, including Phu Quoc-Hanoi, Phu Quoc-Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City.

From 2026, the airline plans to expand to direct international routes from Phu Quoc to the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India.

“This is a very special day for Sun Group and Sun PhuQuoc Airways. It marks not only the start of a new airline, but also a new way of doing business, combining aviation and tourism to create distinct travel experiences,” said Nguyen Manh Quan, General Director of Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

“The successful take-off of our first flights adds a new brand and a new travel choice at reasonable cost to Vietnam’s aviation market, making Phu Quoc more accessible to travelers of all ages and helping meet the rising demand for air travel during Phu Quoc’s golden season and the upcoming 2026 Lunar New Year,” he added.
