VOV.VN - Vietnamese beauty Nguyen Phuong Nhi left Ho Chi Minh City on October 10 and headed to Japan to compete at the upcoming Miss International 2023 pageant.
August last year saw the 20-year-old Phuong Nhi of Thanh Hoa province win the second runner-up title of Miss World Vietnam 2022, meaning she will go on to represent Vietnam at Miss International 2023.
Many beauty queens come out to bid farewell to Phuong Nhi as she leaves from Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The top 3 of Miss World Vietnam 2022 are all present at the airport, including first runner-up Bao Ngoc (R) who was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2022 when it was held in Egypt last October.
Mai Phuong, the winner of Miss World Vietnam 2022 (L), is due to represent the nation at Miss World 2023 which will be held in India later this year.
Kieu Loan, who won the first runner-up of Miss World Vietnam 2019 and achieved a Top 10 finish in Miss Grand International 2019, wishes Phuong Nhi good luck and success in Japan.
Some of her relatives are also present to see her off at the airport.
Phuong Nhi, the second runner-up of Miss World Vietnam 2022, is travelling to the pageant with eight separate pieces of luggage, including one carrying a two-metre long outfit for the national costume segment.
Phuong Nhi stands at 1.70 metres tall and measures 80-57-88. Hailing from the central province of Thanh Hoa, the 21-year-old beauty first rose to prominence by winning the second runner-up title at Miss World Vietnam 2022, thereby meeting the criteria to progress to compete in the 2023 Miss International pageant.
Miss International 2023 is scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from October 11 to October 26. So far, a total of 52 contestants worldwide have been confirmed as competing for the crown, with the 2022 crown previously being won by Jasmin Selberg of Germany.
First launched back in 1960, Miss International makes up one of the Big Four international beauty competitions, alongside Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Earth. This year marks the 61st edition of the global pageant.
In previous versions of the competition, Vietnamese representatives have won high prizes, including Pham Hong Thuy Van who was the third runner-up back in 2015, in addition to Tuong San who finished among the Top 8 in the 2019 version of the pageant.
