VOV.VN - With storm No. 4 weakening into a tropical low-pressure zone, severe floods are expected as the water level of many rivers in central localities such as Quang Binh province and Da Nang city is rising swiftly.
Over 400 houses in Tan Hoa district of Quang Binh province are left submerged in floodwater of 0.5 to two metres, with local people forced to vacate their properties.
Tan Hoa in the central province of Quang Binh was officially recognised as the world's Best Tourism Village 2023 by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) at a ceremony held in the locality on November 14 last year. The locality has been left submerged following heavy downpours on September 19.
Many families in Tan Hoa district are forced to take refuge in floating houses built as shelters to stay in during the flooding season.
Rising floodwaters have forced authorities to cut off power to ensure the safety of local people.
Some houses are left fully under water, except for their roofs.
Heavy rains on September 19 have submerged many areas around Da Nang city.
With roads blocked and many homes inundated, people of Hoa Vang district in Da Nang city are forced to travel by boat to buy food and other necessities.
Pham Thi Tuyet of Hoa Vang district shares that flood water started inundating the street in front of her house on the afternoon of September 19, rapidly entering her home.
Motorcyclists are seen moving on a street in Hoa Vang district which is 30 to 40 cm under water.
Local authorities set up barriers in a bid to prevent residents from traveling to risky areas.
