Flag-raising ceremony of Vietnamese sports delegation at fourth Asian Para Games

VOV.VN - The national flag of Vietnam was hoisted alongside those of 43 other states during the flag-raising ceremony which was held as part of the fourth Asian Para Games in Hangzhou of China on the morning of October 19.

The event saw representatives of the organising board send greetings to the sports delegations and duly presented souvenirs to them.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Nguyen Hong Minh, deputy director of the Sports Authority of Vietnam, offered a ceramic vase depicting several of the country’s famous landscapes as a special gift to the organisers.

The Vietnamese sporting delegation to the event comprises of a total of 71 members, including 48 athletes who will compete in seven sports of track and field, swimming, weightlifting, chess, table tennis, badminton, and Taekwondo.

The nation’s ultimate goal is to win three to four gold medals and to have as many athletes as possible qualify for the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Immediately after the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia, the sport sector started to prepare for the fourth Asian Para Games by selecting and training athletes and providing them with all necessary support.

The country bagged a total of 40 medals, including eight gold, eight silver, and 24 bronze medals to rank 12th at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia.
