VOV.VN - Female boxer Ha Thi Linh has advanced to the semi-final round of the 2025 International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championships which is taking place in Serbia.

On March 14 in the quarter-finals of the women's 63kg category, Linh recorded a 4-1 triumph over Jekaterina Sorokina of Latvia after the judges announced the scorecards of 30/27, 29/28, 30/27, 30/27, and 27/30 in favour of the Vietnamese boxer.

The victory ensured that Linh duly qualified for the semi-finals where she will face Thananya Somnuek of Thailand. The Thai boxer previously won a bronze medal in the women’s 63kg category at the Asian Games (ASIAD 19) held in China in 2022.

Linh is the only Vietnamese representative to progress through to the semi-final round of the world championships.

Her teammates Vo Thi Kim Anh in the women’s 54kg category and Hoang Thi Ngoc Mai in the women’s 70kg category failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

In 2024, Linh and Anh were the only two female Vietnamese boxers to compete at the Paris Olympics.

The world championships organised by the International Boxing Association (IBA) began on March 8 and is scheduled to last through to March 16.
