VOV.VN - Vietnamese cueists Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh have failed to secure their championship title at the 2025 World Championship 3-Cushion National Teams after losing out to strong rivals from the Netherlands.
According to the results, in the final match played on March 17 in Viersen, Germany, Quyet Chien faced off against world No.1 Dick Jaspers, while Phuong Vinh met Jean Paul De Bruijn.
Facing De Bruijn, the Vietnamese player got off to a good start, leading 13-9 after 12 innings.
However, the Dutch player staged an impressive comeback, scoring in 11 consecutive innings to take the lead at 36-27.
De Bruijn finished the match with 40 points, while Phuong Vinh managed to add only 2 more points in the final inning, accepting a 34-40 defeat after 28 innings.
Meanwhile, Quyet Chien, despite his attempts, lost 40-38 to the world’s No.1 player after 21 innings.
This victory secured the Netherlands’ fifth championship title at the World Three-Cushion National Teams.
Although Vietnam did not claim the title, this remains the country’s second-best performance in the history of the tournament. Previously, Vietnam won its first championship last year.
