VOV.VN - Vietnamese athletes on September 6 took home an additional two goal medals on the last competition day of the 55th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2023, raising their total number of golds to five.
Nguyen Thanh Tien who got only bronze medal at the Southeast Asian competition in Indonesia three months ago successfully beat his strong opponents to clinch a gold medal in the Men’s Athletic Physique over 182 cm category.
More impressively, Le Thi Huong Giang, 48, took a gold in the Women’s Athletic Physique over 165cm category after outperforming a strong Indian and two Thai opponents. She is the oldest athlete winning a gold at the continental competition.
As a result, three competition days saw Vietnamese athletes strike a total of five gold, four silver and six bronze medals. For their brilliant performance, the Vietnamese women’s team also finished second, winning the silver cup.
The 55th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2023 took place in Nepal from September 4 to 6, attracting more than 200 athletes from 25 countries and territories to compete in different weight and height categories.
