VOV.VN - Former Uruguayan football star Diego Forlán met with Vietnamese fans on July 20 at an FC Online video game event held in Hanoi.
On his first visit to Vietnam, Forlán expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from the local gaming community. He noted that FC Online, a massively multiplayer football simulation game, had accurately recreated his signature traits, including his speed, strength, and powerful long-range shots.
Due to a tight schedule, Forlán shared that he only had about an hour to explore Hanoi before resting ahead of his appearance at the event.
Speaking to attendees, the former striker encouraged local football players to train with persistence in order to reach important milestones in their careers. He also offered advice to young people more broadly, urging them to enjoy life and give their best in any profession they choose, whether in football, business, or other fields.
By 9 p.m. the same day, Forlán departed Hanoi to return home.
Born in 1979, Diego Forlán is a Uruguayan football manager and former professional striker. Regarded as one of the top forwards of his generation, he won both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe twice. At the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he finished as joint top scorer with five goals and was awarded both the Goal of the Tournament and the Golden Ball as the competition’s best player.
