VOV.VN - A welcome ceremony hosted by President Luong Cuong for his Sri Lankan counterpart Anura Kumara Dissanayaka was held at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on May 5.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka of Sri Lanka arrives in Hanoi on May 4, starting his three-day State visit to Vietnam and participation in the UN Day of Vesak 2025 at the invitation of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
This marks Dissanayaka’s first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as President, which he assumed in November 2024.
The visit takes place at a meaningful time, as both nations are celebrating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations (July 21, 1970 – July 21, 2025).
The two Presidents stand on the podium while military bands play the national anthems of both countries.
The two State leaders review the Guard of Honour of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Their talks are held immediately after the welcome ceremony.
The talks review recent cooperation and discuss future directions.
They are also scheduled to witness the signing of cooperation documents and meet with the press to announce the outcomes of their talks.
