State President Luong Cuong and his spouse chaired a welcome ceremony in Hanoi on April 1 for King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, who are paying a state visit to Vietnam from March 31 to April 4.
This visit marks the first state visit in over 50 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
The visit highlights the King and Queen’s special affection for Vietnam.
The two leaders stand on the podium while military bands play the national anthems of both nations.
Both leaders review the guards of honour of the Vietnamese People's Army.
After the welcome ceremony, President Luong Cuong and King Philippe held a brief meeting, followed by a formal discussion to assess recent cooperation and propose directions for future collaboration. The two leaders are also set to witness the signing of cooperation documents.
