VOV.VN - The country attracted approximately 17.6 million international visitors throughout 2024, marking an annual increase of 39.5% and reaching 97.6% of the 2019 pre-pandemic level.
The General Statistics Office (GSO) also reported that December alone witnessed the country receive 1.75 million international tourists, an annual rise of 27.4%.
Last year also saw the number of holidaymakers arriving in the country by air reach over 14.8 million, accounting for 84.4% of the total figure; while those coming by road stood at 2.5 million, making up 14.2%. International visitors to the nation by sea were 248,100 arrivals, representing 1.4% of the total.
Asia made up the largest source of tourist markets last year, with 80% of the overall. Coming in second was the European market, followed by tourists from America, Australia, and Africa.
Throughout the reviewed period, the Republic of Korea remained as the biggest source of visitors to the country with 4.56 million holidaymakers, followed by China with 3.74 million arrivals.
Taiwan (China) ranked in third with 1.29 million arrivals, followed by the United States with 780,000 arrivals, and Japan with 711,464 arrivals.
Revenue from accommodation and food services in the reviewed period was estimated to have reached VND733.9 trillion, an increase of 12.9% over the same period from last year. Elsewhere, tourism revenue was estimated to be at VND62.5 trillion, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.
