VOV.VN - In preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival (Tet), residents in Kim Long ward in Hue city have been busy preparing ginger jams to serve customers during the biggest and most important holiday of the year.
Kim Long ginger jam village is the only place in the ancient city of Hue that has preserved the craft of making jam in preparation for the festive season.
Kim Long ginger jam is famous for its distinct flavour.
The ginger itself is cut into thin slices.
Once the ginger is washed with clean water, the artisans begin to mix the ginger with white sugar.
The mixture is then put onto a hot stove for one hour. Artisans then have to stir the ginger continuously to avoid it burning.
Ginger jam is a specialty of Hue city and a popular Tet holiday treat. Its popularity has helped improve the lives of local residents.
Since mid-December, many households have started to prepare to make ginger jam in order to meet the high demand during the important holiday in Vietnam.
