Vietnam triumphs at World Memory Championship 2023

VOV.VN - Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh (Vietnam) has excellently broken five world records and won a gold medal at the World Memory Championship 2023, the world’s greatest test of memory held recently in India.

The competition taking place on November 24-26 attracted 779 contestants from 13 countries, including many experienced players from Germany, Denmark, Mongolia, India, and Japan.

Among the contestants was Dr. Johannes Mallow (Germany) who twice won the world championships, the German championship nine times, and set world records seven times. Another strong competitor was two-time world champions Simon Reinhard (Germany).

The contestants were divided into four groups according to age, including those under 12, from 13-18, from 19-60 and over 60 years old.

They were tested in disciplines, namely 15 min names and faces; 30min binary numbers; hour numbers; abstract images; speed numbers; historic dates; hour cards; 15 min random words; spoken numbers, and speed cards.

Representing Vietnam at the competition were Dang Thu Hien, 25, and her younger sister Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh, 23. They have both joined the Vietnamese team for four years and taken part in Asian and world memory championships.

Phuong Trinh from Tam Tri Luc Training Joint Stock Company based in Ho Chi Minh City got the highest scores in five out of 10 disciplines and clinched the gold medal.

The Vietnamese girl finished fourth at the 2019 Asia-Pacific Memory Championship and in the Top 10 of the 2019 World Memory Championship.
