Vietnam Military History Museum set for November opening

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Museum of Military History located on Thang Long Boulevard in Nam Tu Liem district of Hanoi will open to the public from November 1, with the site featuring more than 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures and many precious artifacts.
Construction work initially began on 2019, spanning an area of 23,198 square metres on the Thang Long Boulevard in Nam Tu Liem district.
The 45-metre Chien Thang Tower, a symbol of Vietnam's independence in 1945, stands in the centre of the square.
More than 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures and many precious artifacts, are exhibited at the museum.
The main exhibition area is a building which stands at 35.8 metres tall with five floors, including one partly underground.
A MiG-21 aircraft is among the national relics being exhibited on the first floor of the museum.
A special corner featuring dozens of doves symbolises the aspiration for peace.
The exhibition areas are divided into six themes.
The T-54B tank is famous for its involvement in the liberation of Hue and Da Nang and for crashing through the side gate of the Independence Palace on April 30, 1975. In 2012, the tank was recognised by the Government as a national treasure.
Lieutenant General Pham Tuan, a hero of People's Armed Forces, piloted this MiG-21 aircraft to shoot down a B-52 bomber on the night of December 27, 1972.
A model features the 60-day and night battle to defend the capital following President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for a national resistance war.
An artwork created by sculptor Pham Xuan Thi in 1955
A model of Hien Luong Bridge, a place associated with the struggle for national liberation and unification during Vietnam's resistance war against the US invasion, is showcased.
The opening of the museum is part of activities to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army.
