VOV.VN - Vietnam on October 10 accepted a 0-2 defeat to China in an international friendly match in which striker Tien Linh was sent off due to a foul play with a Chinese player.

Playing against strong opponents at Dalian Sports Centre Stadium in Liaoning province, the Vietnamese team kept the game in check but still lost due to moments of carelessness and mistakes.

After the referee’s whistle. the hosts launched massive attacks, bringing to bear pressure on their visitors. Both teams carved out a number of scoring chances in the first half but they all failed.

Entering the second haft, the hosts still gave the visitors more control of the ball and made use of their opponents’ mistakes to score goals.

In the 56th minute, Liu Yang crossed the ball very well before Wang Qiuming struck a brilliant shot, opening the score.

After the goal, Chinese players no longer maintained their pressure buildup on the Vietnamese team’s defense line.

Though defenders like Duy Manh or Tuan Tai did not encounter any significant resistance in their pull-up, they could not create a notable attack. The away team even had more difficulties when striker Nguyen Tien Linh was sent off after a foul play with a Chinese defender.

In the extra time, Wu Lei took advantage of Hoang Duc’s mistake to extend China’s lead after an earlier goal was refused for offside,

Vietnam conceded their first defeat under the reign of French expert Philippe Troussier.

In October 2023, Vietnam will play two more friendly games against Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea during FIFA Days.
