VOV.VN - U21 Vietnam triumphed 3-1 over U21 Egypt in the classification match for places 17-24 at the 2025 Women’s U21 World Volleyball Championship on August 13, demonstrating resilience and tactical skill.
Following the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB)'s decision to eliminate Vietnam from the knockout stage, the Vietnamese team faced Egypt in the classification round determined to rebound.
The match began unfavorably for Vietnam as Egypt quickly took the lead. However, after the first half of the opening set, coach Trọng Linh’s squad stabilized their play, steadily scoring points to claim the set 25-16.
Set two proved challenging again, with Vietnam trailing by as many as five points. The young Vietnamese players remained composed, closing the gap and saving three set points. A clever drop shot from Quỳnh Hương sealed the 26-24 win in the second set.
Set three turned into a fierce back-and-forth battle. Both teams exchanged points relentlessly, but Egypt capitalized on critical moments while Vietnam committed a few errors, allowing the African side to take the set 25-22.
In the decisive fourth set, U21 Vietnam focused intensely from the start, employing varied attacking strategies. The team consistently maintained a three- to four-point lead throughout most of the set and ultimately secured the 25-20 win.
With the 3-1 victory over Egypt, U21 Vietnam advances to the classification matches for places 17–20, where they will face the winner of the Mexico vs. Chile match.
