VOV.VN - After a 2-0 victory over Myanmar in the final group stage match of the 2025 ASEAN U16 Women’s Championship in Indonesia on August 25, Vietnam’s national U16 women’s football team topped Group B and advanced to the semifinals.
Reflecting on the win, head coach Okiyama Masahiko said the result went exactly as he had predicted. In the first half, Vietnam created numerous opportunities but was unable to convert them into goals. In the second half, the team regained its momentum and fought with full determination, ultimately securing a 2-0 victory.
Vietnam will face Thailand, the best second-placed team from the group stage, in the semifinals. The match is scheduled for 15:30 at Manahan Stadium on August 27.
The other semifinal will see Indonesia take on Australia at 19:00 on the same day. It promises to be a tough challenge for the host nation, who will face a higher-ranked opponent.
