Thuan finishes second in world men’s 400m individual medley qualifiers

VOV.VN - Young Vietnamese swimmer Nguyen Quang Thuan came second in the qualifying round of the men’s 400m individual medley in the 2025 World Aquatics Championships which were held in Singapore on August 3.
Thuan swam in the men’s 400m individual medley alongside opponents from Lebanon, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Turkey, Bahrain, and the Maldives.
The Vietnamese swimmer finished second after clocking 4’23”99, trailing behind Munzer Mark Kabbara of Lebanon with a time of 4’23”51.
Despite his strong effort, Thuan ranked 25th out of 32 overall and did not advance to the final.
Vietnam’s national swimming team departed for Singapore on July 24 for 2025 World Aquatics Championships, taking place from July 27 to August 3.
Nguyen Huy Hoang ranked fourth in the men’s 1,500m freestyle, whilst Pham Thanh Bao was placed in 27th position in the men’s 200m breaststroke.
This marks Vietnam’s first international swimming competition of the year.
Vietnam’s swimmers will also take part in several upcoming international competitions and the 2025 National Championships, which will help determine the main representative for the men’s 400m individual medley at SEA Games 33.
