Runners will take part in three distances of 5km, 10km and 21km on unique routes designed to help them discover the wild beauty and charm of the islands, while taking part in the races.

At the event, they will also immerse themselves in a world of music, while afterwards enjoying a beer at a colourful festival.

A huge bonus of VND500 million (US$20,000) in cash and gifts is available for the highest-ranking finishers.

The organising committee hope this will be an opportunity for the running community to show their awareness of protecting the natural environment of Cat Ba, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Each runner would be an ambassador to promote the image of Cat Ba to local and international friends.

The marathon is jointly organised by the Vietnam Television, the Hai Phong People's Committee and Thanh An Media.
