VOV.VN - The Red Flamboyant Flower Festival 2024 was launched in Hai Phong city, the largest port city in northern Vietnam, on May 11 evening, kick-starting this year’s tourism season in the locality.
The festival is held annually to introduce Hai Phong’s historical and cultural values, as well as to promote its tourism potential, thus enhancing the city’s reputation in the eyes of local people and international friends.
The 2024 festival is the largest of its kind, attracting 18,000 local residents and visitors.
The main stage is eye-catchingly arranged, highlighting the city’s socio-economic development achievements in recent years.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Van Tung, head of the Hai Phong municipal administration, notes that the 2024 festival is of great significance as the Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba Archipelago located in Hai Phong city and its neighbor – Quang Nionh province – has recently been recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage site, the first inter-provincial heritage of Vietnam.
A UNESCO representative hands over a certificate recognizing Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago as the first inter-province World Natural Heritage Site in Vietnam to the Hai Phong leadership.
Following the opening ceremony is a special art programme promoting Hai Phong’s historical and cultural values, as well as its tourism potential.
The art programme brings together famous artists from across the country, including Thanh Lam, Khanh Hoa, Thu Phuong, Tung Duong, Pham Thu Ha, Hoa Minzy
