VOV.VN - More than one million people nationwide wore red shirts with yellow stars and turned their attention to historic Ba Dinh Square on August 16 to witness the national flag-raising ceremony before taking part in a mass walk promoting a united, strong, and sustainable Vietnam.
Delegates and tens of thousands of Hanoi residents join the event.
The event takes place as part of the nationwide walking drive jointly organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ministry of Public Security in order to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (1945–2025), National Day (September 2), and Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Forces.
At 6:00 a.m., crowds of officials and citizens, all wearing red shirts with yellow stars, turn towards the historic Ba Dinh Square as they observe the flag-raising ceremony.
In the ancient city of Hue, participants begin their walk at Nghenh Luonng Dinh pavilion
Hue leaves a special impression by hosting its walking event at the Nghenh Luong Dinh pavilion which represents a historic structure along the Perfume River, opposite the flag tower.
At Bien Dong Park in Da Nang City, representatives from the office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in the central and Central Highlands regions collaborate alongside the city’s police in order to organise the programme.
At 10/3 Square in Buon Ma Thuot ward in the central highland Dak Lak province, over 2,000 residents and armed forces members take part in a two-kilometre run, starting at the square and passing through Truong Chinh, Tran Nhat Duat, Le Thanh Tong, and Ly Nam De streets before then returning to the starting point.
More than 6,000 public security officers and citizens from the Mekong Delta province of Can Tho participate in the walking event.
