According to the schedule, 28-year-old Oanh will compete in the women's 1500m event, with the preliminary rounds commencing on August 19.

The Bac Giang-born athlete is the nation’s only representative to take part in the event. Despite no Vietnamese athletes meeting this year's championship qualification criteria, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) decided to extend an invitation slot to Vietnam.

Oanh's latest result was a gold medal achieved in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship which were held in Kazakhstan back in February.

At SEA Games 32, the Vietnamese athlete successfully grabbed four gold medals in the 1,500m, 5,000m, and 3,000m steeplechase.
