VOV.VN - Party and State leaders of Vietnam on June 30 fanned out across major provinces and cities to announce a sweeping administrative restructuring initiative, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to streamline governance at the grassroots-level.

The ceremony in Hanoi is graced by the presence of President Luong Cuong. Notably, Hanoi is among the 11 provincial/municipal-level units unaffected by the mergers, and from July 1, the capital will comprise 126 communes under the new structure.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the ceremony announcing the administrative merger of Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province that are both important localities in the Northern Key Economic Region.
Starting July 1, Hai Phong and Hai Duong officially merge into a single administrative unit under the name Hai Phong City, which is envisioned to become a future hub for maritime transport, culinary arts and tourism.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man takes part in the ceremony in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho that is formed by the former Can Tho City alongside Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces – the two major rice producers in the Mekong Delta.
From July 1, Can Tho City creates a new administrative entity covering 6,400 km², four times its current size, and a population exceeding four million, tripling its present figure.
Delegates partake in a ceremony to mark the merger of Quang Nam province and Da Nang city at Trung Vuong Theatre.
Politburo members attend the ceremony announcing the decision to merge the provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, and Ha Nam into Ninh Binh province.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh is present at the ceremony announcing the merger of Dak Nong, Binh Thuan, and Lam Dong provinces into Lam Dong province.
General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defence, attends the ceremony in My Tho city, Tien Giang province. Tien Giang will merge with its nearby Dong Thap province in the Mekong Delta into Dong Thap province.
General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, participates in the ceremony in Phu Tho province, following the merger of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh provinces in the north.
Apart from 11 cities and provinces that do not undergo administrative mergers, 23 other provinces and cities hold ceremonies to publicly announce decisions on the restructuring of administrative units at both the provincial and commune levels.
