VOV.VN - The national women’s handball team overcame strong regional rivals to secure the gold medal in beach handball at the 2025 Southeast Asian Handball Championships, held in Thailand from February 10 to 12.
The Vietnamese women's team dominated the tournament, winning all four of their matches against Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand to claim the championship title.
In the men’s event, Vietnam secured a 2-0 victory over Thailand in the final matches, while the Philippines, the group leader, suffered a surprising 2-0 loss to Indonesia. Despite earning the same number of points as the Philippines, the Vietnamese men's team finished second due to head-to-head results (2-1), settling for the silver medal.
Earlier, the national women’s team also clinched gold in the indoor event, which concluded on February 10.
With these results, the Vietnamese team successfully met their target of winning one to two gold medals at the tournament.
