Vietnam attracts global travelers for Lunar New Year celebrations
VOV.VN - Vietnam witnessed impressive growth of Indian tourists in 2024 and is expected to continue to experience a boom this year, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
Statistics indicate that the number of Indian travelers to Vietnam has grown remarkably, rising from 138,000 in 2022 to reach 392,000 in 2023 before climbing further to 501,000 in 2024.
This significant growth has helped the world's most populous country rise to sixth place in the top 10 markets that has sent international visitors to the nation last year, up two notches compared to 2023.
Most notably, India topped the list in the recovery rate after the COVID-19 pandemic, up 297% compared to the period before the pandemic.
With this strong growth trend, India is expected to represent a potential source of tourists for the Vietnamese market in the year ahead.
In addition, thanks to a significant increase in air linkages and favourable e-visa policies, the number of Indian tourists to the country will continue to enjoy robust growth in the future.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh, director of communications and marketing of tour operator Vietravel, emphasized that the South Asian country is home to potential customers and will be a key factor in shaping the Vietnamese tourism industry over the next decade.
Last year, Vietnam emerged as an attractive tourism destination among Indian tourists due to a series of mega weddings held here, particularly a group of 4,500 guests from Sun Pharma and Indian producer Captain Rahul Bali filming in Da Nang.
