Addressing the event, Nguyen Hong Hai, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasised that despite facing numerous challenges, Ha Giang has previously been honoured as “Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination” by World Travel Awards 2023 and listed among the 52 best places to travel to in 2023 by The New York Times.

In particular, although super typhoon Yagi recently caused heavy damage to local tourism, Ha Giang has rolled out synchronous measures specifically aimed at luring tourists by renovating both attractions and historical sites, as well as upgrading the traffic system, to ensure smooth transportation for visitors.

For his part, Nguyen Trung Khanh, general director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, affirmed that Ha Giang has recently emerged as a bright spot for Vietnamese and international tourism through several remarkable achievements.

Over the past nine months, the locality has welcomed nearly 2.5 million visitors, including more than 290,000 foreign arrivals, and earned VND6,120 billion from tourism services.

To achieve higher goals, Khanh requested that the local tourism industry work towards promoting the development of five groups of potential products, namely cultural and historical tourism, community tourism, eco-resort tourism, adventure sports tourism, and border trade tourism.

Simultaneously, he underlined the need to strengthen dissemination on digital technology platforms and enhance human resource training in a bid to improve the overall quality of service for tourists.

At the event, delegates offered their opinions on preserving the cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities, protecting pristine natural landscapes, designing unique tourism products, and building four- and five-star hotels, to attract high-spending tourists and welcome large groups of visitors in the future.
