Airlines boost flights for National Day holiday travel rush

VOV.VN - Domestic airlines have unveiled major plans to expand capacity during the busy National Day holiday from August 29 to September 3.
Vietjet Air will provide an additional 10,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 50 flights between August 30 and September 2. The carrier is increasing frequency on popular domestic routes linking Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang with destinations such as Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Hue, giving passengers more convenient, affordable travel options for family getaways.
Vietnam Airlines is also stepping up operations by adding 100,000 seats for the holiday period., bringing its total to around 600,000 seats on nearly 2,900 flights.
On the domestic network, the airline is boosting key routes such as Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi–Da Nang, and major tourist connections from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Cam Ranh, Da Lat, and Hue. Overall, domestic capacity will reach nearly 418,000 seats on more than 2,100 flights, up 30% compared with the same period in 2024.
On the international network, services to India, China, Thailand, and Australia have been expanded, with close to 177,000 seats available on over 760 flights, an 18% year-on-year increase.
Currently, the occupancy rate on domestic flights has reached nearly 60% and is expected to continue to increase rapidly in the coming days.
At Noi Bai International Airport, passenger traffic during the four-day break is projected to hit record levels.
On the peak day the airport is forecast to welcome nearly 110,000 passengers with 638 flights, up 20% year on year. Among them are 44,000 international visitors per day, the highest ever, thanks to international delegations attending Vietnam's 80th National Day.
To ensure smooth operations and safety, Noi Bai has been working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Northern Airport Authority to implement flexible measures during the peak period.
