VOV.VN - Over the past few days, residents of flood and landslide-hit Nu Village in Bao Yen district of the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai have been busy stabilising their lives in a new resettlement area which is built about two km from the old village.
The new resettlement area is located roughly two km away from Nu village in Bao Yen district which was previously devastated by landslides and flashfloods in September, resulting in a loss of dozens of lives as well as significant damage to both homes and infrastructure in the village.
A new resettlement area featuring concrete stilt houses takes shape to welcome local villagers.
The cluster of schools and community houses is located in the centre of the area.
A national flag made of 6,000 pots of flowers is placed in the middle of the vicinity, helping to stabilise the lives of people affected by the catastrophic landslides and flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi in September.
Each household owns a three-room house spanning an area of 96 square metres.
Nu villagers move their belongings to new stilt houses in the resettlement area.
Locals prepare their furniture, clean up the stilt houses, and all are ready for a new start.
A bedroom has been completed.
The new resettlement area is located on higher ground, approximately two km away from the original site. It aims to provide a safe and sustainable place for displaced residents to call home.
Benefactors help to grow flowers, an effort which helps to beautify the new resettlement area.
Soldiers also support residents to plant trees.
Students begin to have lessons at school and enjoy their playtime together in the area.
